What is provitamin B5?

Once penetrated into the skin, Provitamin B5 converts into its active form, active vitamin B5.

D-Panthenol is the most stable form of pantothenic acid (vitamin B5). When topically applied, D-Panthenol is absorbed by the skin, where it converts into pantothenic acid.

Its anti-inflammatory properties act against irritation and itching. It functions as a moisturizer for the hair, making it easier to comb and increasing its shine by deeply penetrating the hair cortex and strengthening it. Pantothenic acid penetrates the scalp and nourishes the hair roots.

Provitamin B5 (Panthenol) protects, recovers and repairs damaged hair. It has significant biological importance for nourishing and growth of the hair. It acts as a moisturizer for the deeper layers of the skin. It has anti-inflammatory and healing properties; it regenerates damaged skin while promoting epithelialization (regeneration of epithelial tissue over connective tissue). It has a great capacity to retain water, increases flexibility, softens the skin, enhances elasticity and prevents aging.

Vitamin B5 is present in almost all living cells and it is essential for most bodily functions, including metabolism, fat, protein and carbohydrate synthesis, hormone secretion, vitamin D production, regulation of the nervous and cardiovascular systems and many other functions. Therefore, it has the ability to help strengthen and repair damaged hair by penetrating the hair from the root, creating a protective film that keeps the hair moisturized and allows more frequent washing. Therefore, it makes the hair appear shinier, softer, and easier to comb, giving it more thickness and controlling split ends.

Vitamin B5 itself is a natural constituent of hair. Its deficiency is evident in the hair’s lack of shine, thinness, and brittleness, leading to hair loss, skin irritation, and loss of hair color.
